Avast is an extremely well-known antivirus program packed with remarkable malware detection capabilities. Its antivirus software guards your device from ransomware identity theft, and all types of adware, spyware and malware. It also has valuable online security tools like PC backup and recovery. Daily security updates are also included. The user interface is intuitive and easy to use. It is compatible with older computers and has the ability to scan quickly making it a good choice for users who are busy.
On the other aspect, Webroot’s approach to protection is a little unusual. It puts any suspicious files or programs in a sandbox that analyzes their behaviour to determine if they pose an issue. This is not the way that testing labs test antivirus programs, and can affect the scores Webroot receives. However, MRG Effitas found that Webroot blocks the majority of threats instantly or within 24 hours. Its unique method of protection makes it the winner in this class.
Avast’s extensive support options are a great feature. The company has a knowledgebase that includes tutorials on support, as well as an online forum where users can ask questions and get answers. They also offer phone support for customers who are premium (with lines in Europe and the US) and live chat.
Additionally, Webroot doesn’t offer as many support options directly. It does have a significant presence on social media and provides users free discussion boards. Its customer service is more responsive than Avast however, it requires a subscription for telephone support.
